X Factor - Simon Cowell wouldn't save his girlfriend

4 December 2007 - X Factor lothario Simon Cowell has upset his girlfriend by saying that he would not save her if they were on a sinking ship.

Simon, who has spent weeks flirting with fellow judge Dannii Minogue, was asked on a US chat show which three people he would rescue from drowning.

According to Now magazine, he chose his mother, American Idol co-host Paula Abdul and - rather unsurprisingly - himself.

However, this left girlfriend Terri Seymour "crushed", an insider said. The 32-year-old presenter has been dating Simon for four years and the source added that she "stormed out" of the studio after his comment.

Their relationship has hit the headlines a number of times, most recently when would-be supermodel Jasmine Lennard was seen exiting his home in the wee hours of the morning, leading many people to believe he had cheated on Terri.

In other bizarre Simon Cowell-related news, last week saw a man appear in court charged with punching a student who told him he looked like the acid-tongued X Factor judge.

Anthony Calvert admitted hitting Adam Davies five times in the face.
