X Factor - Rhydian Roberts gets letter from PM

21 December 2007 - The prime minister might be a fan of X Factor after it was revealed he sent Rhydian Roberts a letter of support.

The Welsh warbler finished as runner-up in the final but there have been suggestions that the phone vote was fixed to allow Leon Jackson to win.

However, according to the Mirror, the Rhydler was sent a note from Gordon Brown to wish him luck for the future.

The singer's mum, Angela, told the newspaper about the letter but did not reveal many details.

"Rhydian was very surprised to get the personal note from the prime minister wishing him well," she said.

It is believed Leon received a letter as well, the Mirror added.

Meanwhile, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom is to investigate the complaints made regarding the final of the reality competition, it emerged this week.

According to Reuters, hundreds of viewers registered concerns with the group after they failed to get through when voting for contestants by telephone.

"We are now investigating," a spokeswoman for Ofcom was quoted as saying.

"It is related to voting and the conduct of voting on the X Factor."
