I'm a Celebrity - Gemma Atkinson's debut disaster

23 November 2007 - Gemma Atkinson's first trip to an awards bash almost ended in disaster when she chopped through her finger.

The ex-Hollyoaks star told the Sun how her delayed train to the Soap Awards had already stressed her out when she accidentally cut into her finger and needed stitches.

After getting a bit tipsy on the journey, she borrowed a knife to cut her orange but managed to slice though her digit instead.

For the rest of the train ride she tried desperately not to bleed on her dress, but was told by rail staff that she would need stitches.

"I'm waiting there with my finger hanging off and then she had to inject me with local anaesthetic and I passed out," the soap star-turned-model explained.

And when she finally reached the red carpet, Gemma said the debacle had left her looking a bit of a mess.

"Everyone slated me for what my outfit looked like, but I thought if they only knew what I'd been through," she added.

Gemma is certainly making up for it now, however, as she is currently the very glamorous face and body of Ultimo lingerie.
