From Footballers' Wives to the Street
10 October 2007 - Susie Amy, who played Chardonnay in the popular ITV drama Footballers' Wives, is to join Coronation Street.
And she enters the famous Weatherfield residence with a bang, slapping Carla Conner in her first scene, reports the Daily Star.
Playing the part of Lindsey, Amy is the ex-wife of Tony Gordon, and she is not happy with his new love interest Carla.
Filming involving the former footballers' wife will begin at the end of October. Viewers will see the attractive brunette on their screens by December, in time for a new Christmas love triangle story.
An insider from the long-running ITV soap told the Daily Star: "Susie has proved herself a sensational actor of TV, in movies and the theatre.
"It is a massive coup for us to have her. Her role certainly packs a punch - at least as far as Carla is concerned."
After being chosen to play the role of Chardonnay in Footballers' Wives, Amy said that she was "thrilled" as she knew what competition she had beaten to get the part.
Commenting on her co-stars to the programme's website, she said that she got on well with most of the cast.
"We all get on very well and it just makes filming such fun. It's actually fun to come into work," she claimed.
