Coronation Street: Sexy new character

28 December 2007 - 'Coronation Street' bosses have signed up new actress Michelle Keegan to star in the show.

Sexy Michelle, who has never appeared on TV before, will be joining the ITV soap as feisty new character Tina McIntyre in January, and producers are hoping the 20-year-old's good looks will entice new viewers.

A source said: "She is just the sex injection 'Corrie' needs!"

Michelle - who will first appear on screen on January 7 - is set for an explosive Weatherfield entrance when she causes a fight with Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, at the medical centre.

The tension between Gail and Tina increases after Tina arrives at the centre a day late for an appointment, to be told by a gloating Gail she has missed it.

However, as Tina is leaving the surgery, she runs into Gail's son David, spilling coffee all over his shirt - but instead of being angry, David says he will let her off the cleaning bill if she agrees to go out with him.

Their relationship continues, and after a night of heavy drinking, they end up in David's bedroom - much to the disgust of Gail, who finds them together the next day.

The 'Coronation Street' source continued: "Tina is definitely going to spice things up in Weatherfield - in more ways than one!"
