Man Behaving Badly sent back to school

Actor Neil Morrissey will be heading back to school in new drama Waterloo Road.

The former star of early 1990s comedy Men Behaving Badly landed the role of a strict deputy head teacher Eddie Lawson, whose desire to do things by the book riles his innovative superior Jack, played by Jason Merrells.

A source said: "Eddie is an excellent teacher but he doesn't take risks, which is bound to wind Jack up.

"There will also be conflict in the romance stakes when divorced and single Eddie finds chemistry with a colleague which sends sparks flying."

Neil, 44, has struggled to pick up quality acting roles since he reached the heights of fame while playing Tony Smart in Men Behaving Badly.

But Waterloo Road executive producer Brian Park may be hoping the new show sees as much success as that BBC comedy and still has faith in Neil's abilities, saying: "It's fantastic to have Neil back."
