Jessica Simpson's adoption wish

Jessica Simpson is the most recent celebrity to talk of her adoption plans - but hers apparently began more than ten years ago.

The In This Skin singer told Self magazine that she wanted to adopt a Mexican orphan at the age of 16.

"My father was a minister, so growing up we'd go on a missionary trip every summer. The first time I went to [the Casa Hogar Elim] orphanage I was 16," she explained.

"I remember holding this baby who was found in a dumpster. I wanted to adopt him right then and there. I was like, 'Dad, can I have him for my birthday, please?'"

Simpson then said that she wants to adopt before having her own children.

After winning a Chrysler Crossfire sports car at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards, she exchanged it for a minivan and donated it to the orphanage.
