Led Zeppelin set to reunite

Rock gods Led Zeppelin are reportedly set to reunite in a gig to honour their late record boss before heading out on a world tour.

Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, pictured, died in December last year after falling into a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones gig.

A New York memorial show in April featured stars such as Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks and Crosby, Stills & Nash, but Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones hope to play a London gig alongside former drummer John Bonham's son Jason in his memory.

A source said: "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a date."

But in addition, the source claimed they also "gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't fall out".

The source added: "It has been hoped for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour."

If the plan goes ahead, it is believed a tour will start next year.

The British band, whose track Stairway to Heaven is often claimed to be one of the best songs ever, split in 1980 after Bonham's death, but have played a few charity concerts since such as Live Aid in 1985.
