Waterloo Road - Eddie, played by Neil Morrissey

Waterloo Road - Exam time at the school

10 January 2008 @ 8-9pm on BBC ONE

It's the start of the spring term at Waterloo Road, but Head Teacher Rachel finds her office has been ransacked – and the only things missing are the contents of her own personnel file...

Bolton Smilie and his gang see school as just a game. Rachel is convinced a trip to a prison could give them the scare they need. Bolton's well up for it – his jailbird dad's told him prison is a cushy number.

Meanwhile, Eddie is frustrated that the teachers aren't taking their exam duties seriously. They think the kids aren't under any real pressure because the exams are in no way as difficult as when they were at school. Eddie asks them to prove it by sitting an exam after school.

Elsewhere, Brett is trying to restore his relationship with Mika, and uses the school news letter as a way of reeling her in. Tom has been tasked to encourage more mums and dads to attend that night's parents' evening. He chases Danielle and, at the event, it becomes clear why she has been keeping her mum under wraps.

At the prison, Bolton takes advantage when there's an attack on teacher Matt. He's quickly found with the drugs he brought and is banged up in a cell with inmate Carlton. Hard man Bolton is reduced to tears, begging to be let out.

At the parents' evening, Davina is thanked by a grateful parent, Darren Brigg Snr. The evening gets better when Tom asks Davina out.

After a long day, Rachel senses she's not alone as she gets into her car; as she drives away, she's being watched.

Rachel Mason is played by Eva Pope, Bolton by Tachia Newall, Eddie Lawson by Neil Morrissey, Brett by Tom Payne, Mika by Lauren Drummond, Tom Clarkson by Jason Done, Danielle by Lucy Dixon, Matt Wilding by Chris Geere, Carlton by Gary Stoner, Davina Shackleton by Christine Tremarco, and Darren Brigg Snr by Sean Wilson.
