Brian Belo heads to Hollyoaks

8 November 2007 - Big Brother winner Brian Belo is set to appear in an episode of Hollyoaks this month.

Brian, who charmed audiences with his innocent and simple-minded approach to the reality show, can be seen in the Chester soap on November 20th.

He was given the role as an extra after endlessly talking about Hollyoaks during his time in the Big Brother house and saying how much he fancied brunette beauty Mercedes McQueen, played by Jennifer Metcalfe.

"We thought it only fitting to give the nation's favourite reality TV star a role in our show," said producer Bryan Kirkwood.

Brian, who is 20, has had much to celebrate since winning the eighth series of Big Brother, including his relationship with fellow housemate Amanda.

However, he recently expressed his delight at being able to visit the Hollyoaks set - particularly the Dog in the Pond pub and Mercedes' bedroom.

"Jennifer was really lovely, just as I'd dreamed," he said. "When she said I could sit on her bed in the McQueens' house, I was like, game on!"

Other celebrity cameos in soap history have included that of Robbie Williams, who once featured as a background extra in EastEnders. He appeared onscreen talking on a public telephone in the Queen Vic.
