Spice Girls doc in BBC's autumn line-up

The BBC has announced its line-up of shows for the autumn, with a major documentary about the reformed Spice Girls planned.

A 90-minute show on BBC One following the all-girl group as they embark on a farewell world tour will keep them in the limelight, as will an appearance at this year's Children in Need fundraiser.

But Aunty has other treats in store, such as a documentary following the Royal family, an exclusive interview with former prime minister Tony Blair and the second series of Robin Hood.

"We're keeping up the pace of change," said BBC One controller Peter Fincham at the announcement in London.

He said that the Spice Girls are giving their "full involvement" to the documentary and had been "keen" to get involved with Children and Need, for which the group are recording two new singles.

This revelation contradicts the pop group who at their press conference to announce they were reforming would only say that new material was "under discussion".

Other new shows set to hit screens this autumn include a sitcom with Doctor Who star David Tennant and Spaced actress Jessica Hynes about leaner drivers and a comedy sketch show featuring Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller.
