Malcolm McLaren hits out at jungle bosses

I'm A Celebrity - Malcolm McLaren fix claims

12 November 2007 - Malcolm McLaren has branded 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' a fix after sensationally quitting the jungle reality show before it hits TV screens tonight.

The Sex Pistols boss walked out of the series on Saturday (10.11.07), amid claims he was scared of the snakes that surrounded the campsite in the Australian outback.

However, the 61-year-old music guru insists that wasn't the reason and claims he quit because the ITV programme is fake and the contestants aren't really living in the jungle.

He said: "The reality is their jungle is a glorified film set. The whole show is a circus. I was shocked to hear I was never going to be in any danger.

"The medic Dr Bob McCarron told me, 'Things are so safe, I would send my own kids in to do the show.' There is nothing bad in there. They're hoodwinking the public.

"Viewers need to wake up to the fact the celebrities are just a motley crew in ITV's horror movie and, basically, I'm no longer interested in the script.

"In my opinion, it's totally and utterly fixed. This is not a reality show, it's a fake one."

McLaren was due to enter the jungle with the nine other celebrities but refused to sign a contract - even though bosses tried to "bully" him to.

He added to Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "When I said I wasn't signing they bullied me, they ridiculed me and they tried to humiliate me. Wherever I went people followed me. They tried to keep me locked up. It was like a prison. In the end I ran out screaming."
