Towering club sandwich
We show you how to create a deliciously filling double-layer club sandwich using only the finest fresh ingredients. Serves 1.
Ingredients
• 3 thick slices wholegrain bread
• 4 slices (130g) honey roast ham
• 2 slices (80g) Swiss cheese
• 1 fresh tomato, sliced
• 1 tbsp mayonnaise
• 1 handful of mixed leaf lettuce
• Butter/margarine
Method
For the perfect club sandwich take your first slice of wholegrain bread, spread it with butter or margarine, and let the layering begin!
Start with a layer of mixed lettuce leaves, then top with a couple of slices of ham, some sliced tomato and finally a slice of Swiss cheese.
To give the central piece of bread a little bit of flavour, spread some mayonnaise on both sides of the slice and place on top of the cheese, ready for the upper section of the sandwich.
Then just repeat what you did for the lower section, adding your lettuce, tomatoes and the rest of the ham and cheese before finishing the sandwich with the third piece of bread, butter side down.
Twist: Substitute ham with some succulent chicken or for a true BLT, add some grilled bacon.
