How To Look Good Naked - new series
14 November 2007 - @ 8pm on Channel 4
Fashion stylist to the stars Gok Wan returns for a third series of How to Look Good Naked , the fashion and consumer series that shows women how to look great with their clothes on - and off.
Each week, Gok takes one woman on a journey from body loathing to body loving. From having the contents of her knicker drawer confiscated to participating in a naked photographic shoot, there'll be ups and downs along the way that will surprise and challenge how she thinks about herself.
In the biggest television consumer test, 100 How to Look Good Naked testers examine the products and claims made by the beauty industry.
Beauty journalist Emma Gunavardhana explores whether eye patches really reduce wrinkles, if over-the-counter chemical peels really work, and whether organic beauty products do what they claim on the pot, in order to reveal which are worth buying and which are worth binning.
Also throughout this series, Gok celebrates Naked Britain by travelling the length and breadth of the country, convincing as many people as possible to take their clothes off in public, and trying to find the part of the UK where people love their bodies most.
In this first episode Gok meets Sonya Pettigrew, whose dreams of being a ballerina were crushed when she hit puberty, developed large breasts and became the wrong shape for her chosen career. Angry and frustrated by her size, Sonya's ongoing issues with her body are starting to affect her whole life.
At home she can't bear to let her husband sleep in the same bed, while at work she has perfected the art of teaching an entire ballet lesson without catching so much as a glimpse of herself in the mirrors surrounding her.
Sonya knows that if she doesn't learn to accept her body and celebrate her curves her marriage could be over. Can Gok help her accept her body shape and turn her love-life around? And the How to Look Good Naked consumer testers put over-the-counter chemical peels to the test.
