Heroes - Hayden Panettiere doesn't want to end up like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan

21 January 2008 - Heroes star Hayden Panettiere speaks out

Hereos actress Hayden Panettiere doesn't want to be the next Britney or Lindsay. She is more interested in using her celebrity status to help people.

She wants to be a good role model for her young fans.

Hayden helps numerous charities. She has been supporting World Children's Day which raises money for sick children. She has also been protesting about the killing of dolphins in Japan.

She told Star magazine,
"Being on a show called Heroes has opened my eyes to charity work and being a part of things like World Children's Day. In Japan, the dolphins were being slaughtered in front of us, and we were swimming in bloody water, and that was intense. I was really upset because I knew most would die, unfortunately, but I hope I saved others."

Hayden plays cheerleader Claire in Hereos and she thinks she her character would have protested against the dolphins being killed too,
"I realized that in order to make a difference it is more important for people to be on the same page rather than use an act of violence."

Hayden is hoping the writers strike will end soon. She told Star magazine,
"We are crossing our fingers that we get back to work soon. We really do love working on our show."

Star asked Hayden how she manages to stay on the right path, whereas Britney and Lindsay are going off the rails.
Hayden's response was,"They are doing what they're doing, and I'm doing what I'm doing. I am privileged to do what I love to do and I hope to stick around. I don't hope to go to rehab or get DUIs."
