I read with dismay about the little girl who was savaged by her family's dog and think it's time the police enforced properly the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Today a walk in the park can be hazardous enough with hoodies and junkies but when you've also got Dobermans, Mastifs, pit bulls and god knows whatever crazy dog breeds I say enough is enough.
And always we have kennel club owners and breeders crying out that it's the owners and not the dogs fault - try telling that to a visciously mauled infant that it wasn't the dumb animal's fault but the idiot on the other end of the lead.
These so-called responsible organisations are the dog-owning equivalent of America's Gun Lobby - we all know that if you take the guns away then deaths by guns go down.
So the same must be for mad, deranged, savage killer dog breeds that are terrorising our streets and park.

I think whenever a dog mauls anybody, then the owner should be put down.

There's nothing quite like a mass debate to cheer your cockles. |

I once got bitten by a dog whilst walking home from church. I had my walkman on so didn't hear it coming. I only know the dog had bitten me as it sunk its teeth into my wrist. Luckily I had a brand new £140 henri lloyd coat on which softened the blow. I never walked that route again.
I hate dogs because of that.... and because of a dog who used to shit in front of our gate all the time... but that's another story.

Reminds me of a joke.
The landlord of the Hare & Hounds is locking up after a bust night and when he closes the doors he catches his dog Rover's tail in the door and kills him.
Off Rover goes to doggy heaven where the doggy St Peter meets him at the pearly gates and asks him the following:
Name?
Rover
Address?
Hare & Hounds
Cause of death?
Loss of limb - amputation
Sorry Rover he says you can't come in as you've got to be a complete dog to come in here so you'll have to go back to earth and get your missing part.
So, off Rover trots and appears as an apparition in front of the landlord who's now having a quiet whisky at the bar.
Bloody hell Rover what are you doing here he asks and Rover explains about not being able to get into heaven.
The landlord says I' sorry Rover I can't help you, to which Rover goes on about being his faithful companion for years and man's best friend and that.
This time the landlord says he can't help because he doesn't make the rules and that Rover should know that...
HE CAN'T RETAIL SPIRITS AFTER 11 O'CLOCK
Ha Ha Ha !!!

If you are going to comment on something get your facts straight first.
The Kennel Club do not recognise the Pitbull nor the American Bulldog as breeds. This means that you cannot register one of these breeds with them nor show them.
If you look at the top 10 dog bites you will find right at the top is the Dachshund, Yorshire Terriers etc
The Dangerous Dogs act only covers -
the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Brasileiro
It does not cover Rotti's, Dob's or Mastiff's of any sort
It is not bad dogs but bad owners and lack of training that is the problem.
The Kennel Club promote sensible ownership and good training. They run a Good Citizen Award Scheme that encourages owners to take basic obedience classes with their dogs. All of my dogs are taken to training classes from the age of 11 weeks.
Any dog is capable of biting, maming or killing. As owners we must be responsible for their actions.
One of the last reported Rotti attacks in our area was because a child had rammed a pencil down the dogs ear.
This is down again to training - Not just training your dog but all the people that come into contact with it.
As for complaining about mess, when you walk along the road or on the shore you are more likely to come across Fag Ends, Crisp Packets, Cans, Takeaway Boxes, Sweet Rappers (I could go on)
The answer to all of this is that people should, before buying that cute looking puppy, look into the breed and its upkeep.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BAD DOG - ONLY BAD OWNERS

crisp packets don't stick to my shoes or stink the house out when i accidentally stand on them.
I'm against litter - totally - but shit stinks.

Don;t know what type of dog bit me. just remember it had massive fangs, an ocean of drool and red, red eyes.
Those eyes have never left my nightmares.

My breed also gets some stick but as long as you train them from an early age and be aware of what they are capable of you will be fine.
In all the years I have been showing Akitas there is still only one breed I dont like and trust and its a Staffi.
One of the biggest problems is that people let their dogs off the lead and have not trained them how to come back.
People should not let their dogs off the lead unless they are 100% certain that the dog will come back when called.
It is a shame about the poop, it is I am sure just a small minority of people who do not carry poop bags these days.
The right dog can make a great addition to the family. People just need to make sure that they are picking the right breed for them.

I see Sam is spouting out the same old tired rehearsed drivel about the owners not the dogs.
It was the so-called responsible breeders that bred these maniac savage devil dogs in the first place.
I can't believe they have a top ten of dog bites.
Do they have a top ten of killer breeds too.
Plus not being happy throttling and mauling our kids they shit all over the place giving us that disease that kills our kids again!!!

Its so sad that you believe everything they print in the paper.
When these dog bites/attacks are reported you never get the full story.
The last Rotti attack -
This was two dogs kept outdoors on the roof of a pub, given NO human contact, kept as guard dogs, had food thrown to them not fed in a bowl and only trained to bark and attack.
What do you expect in these circumstances?
You would have to be a moron to expect these to dogs to then play NICE with kids.
All dogs have basic needs and as long as you see to them you will have a good family pet.
A DOG’S NEEDS
1. Water - A dog needs a constant supply of clean drinking water.
2. Food - One or two meals a day are suitable for most dogs.
3. Exercising - All dogs need exercise and where possible they should
be taken to places where they can safely run free.
4. The pack - All dogs need to be able to feel part of the pack.
5. Leadership - A dog knows there will be leaders within a pack.
Leaders should not include the dog.
6. Company and affection – Dogs need company and affection
without being excessive.
7. Training - Basic's of Sit, Stay and Recall

Well i have had dogs all my life and nothing has ever happened to me or the kids or my staffis
I think staffis they were not fully bred they were a cross between a half staff and half lab but they were the two best dogs
I ever had and ive had two dobes and they were fantastic when i was a kid as well
So i stick up for sam and say it all to do with the owners how you treat them if a dog is treated like shite then it will treat you back the same
I think if you just love feed and train your dog right then he will have nothing but love for you !!!!!!!
