Tom Jones' Bono doubt

Tom Jones' Bono doubt

Friday, 21 November 2008

Tom Jones was uncomfortable when Bono wrote a song about him called 'Sugar Daddy'.

The Welsh crooner sings the track on his new album '24 Hours' but admits that although he likes the song, which was written by the U2 star and his bandmate The Edge, he was unsure of the title.

He revealed: "I said, 'Is that what you think of me?' Bono said, 'I just like the sound of sugar daddy.'"

The 'It's Not Unusual' singer - who is famed for female fans throwing their underwear at him - also said he was worried people might think he was boasting about his infamous personal life in the lyrics.

He added to music website Spinner: "When I first heard it, I said, 'I hope it doesn't come across like I'm blowing my own trumpet.' And Bono said, 'Well, you're the only guy that's got b**ls enough to sing this thing.' So, I said OK."

'24 Hours' is out now.
