X Factor - Introducing Austin Drage
Monday, 6 October 2008
21-year-old Austin Drage from Essex really impressed Simon Cowell during the judges houses round.
Simon told Austin that he works harder than any other singer in the competition but he has to try not to seem so desperate.
He is the favourite male singer at the moment but this could all change once the X Factor live shows start next week.
Austin's story
Austin was born in Essex and started to sing when he was at school. He combined singing with acting and appeared in several musical theatre and amateur dramatics productions.
Academically he didn't do too well at school but his talent meant that he could get an agent.
He has appeared in several top TV shows including The Bill and Casualty.
When he was seventeen Austin was part of a boyband called Five Boys. They supported Lemar, Westlife, Girls Aloud and Blazing Squad but split soon after.
Austin auditioned for Mc Fly, but was told that he was too ugly.
He is a member of 4-piece glam rock band The Revamps and has been performing on a small scale with them for the last year.
Austin is proof that singers shouldn't give up if they get a no from the judges as he got rejected at Bootcamp last year.
