X Factor - Alan Turner splits the public
Wednesday, 27 August 2008
When Alan Turner told the X Factor panel that he was fostered from the age of four and dreamt of getting to know his real mum and dad millions of people from all around the country felt sorry for him.
As soon as The X Factor aired on Saturday night people began chatting about Alan in Internet forums - showing their support for the 23-year-old. Now it seems that his story might have been a big lie as his dad has told reporters that he does have a relationship with his son and that Alan lives with his gran and not a foster mum.
What Alan said
"As much as I love my foster parent for all she has done, I want to get to know my real family. I would just love it if they were to get in touch with me and to say they did want to see me."
"I know it sounds a bit corny but I just want a real family - to know my real mum and real dad and just for them to say we love you no matter what."
Should Alan be chucked off the X Factor?
A survey of office workers by My Park Magazine found that 52% believe that X Factor bosses should give Alan a second chance and 48 % believe he should be shown the door.
Phil Palmer told MyParkMag: "He should stay because it shouldn't have anything to do with circumstances and he has a brilliant voice."
Ian Samson disagrees: "Alan should be kicked out. I saw that show and he made a big deal of it and then said please don't feel sorry for me, it was too late by then because I think everyone was…I certainly was. It is a ridiculous lie. Stupid really because he was good enough to get through anyway!!"
What do you think?
We want to know what you think...should Alan be kicked off the X Factor or does he deserve a second chance?
