X Factor over 25s

X Factor 2008 finalists - Over 25s

Monday, 6 October 2008

Dannii Minogue has chosen her weapons for another attack on the X Factor prize and they come in the form of three outstanding over 25s.

After receiving the help of Baby Spice Emma Bunton to choose her three finalists the Aussie singer said she was: "absolutely convinced that I had made the right decision".

Here's who she chose...

Daniel Evans

The Humble pool cleaner had the majority of the nation in floods of tears when he first told judges he applied for the X Factor because his late wife wanted him to.

Daniel almost applied for previous shows but decided to take the plunge this year because he believes life is too short after the tragic death of his wife last year.

When telling him the good news, Danni said: "What I need is the ability to move the audience - you saw I was moved when you performed yesterday.

"I also need to know if this guy is a star. Is he the guy I see up there in the final show? You are. You're in my top three".

Rachel Hylton

26 year-old South East London girl Rachel Hylton hardly had the best start in life, having been in prison after getting mixed up with drugs and having five children at a very young age.

So she's looking to the X Factor to help cement her status as officially "back on track". Rachel tries to sing every day and rates music as the saving grace during the hard times in her life.

Although she fluffed her words in the Judges Houses stage of the competition, Dannii told her, "What I love about you is your character, and your spirit, and most importantly your spontaneity.

"Sometimes it crosses the line and gets out of control. I've had to weigh all of that up and I've made a decision. Rachel, you're in my top three".

Ruth Lorenzo

Ruth is a 25 year-old Spanish PR executive who dazzled judges with her Mediterranean variations of pop songs throughout the competition.

She gave Dannii's judging assistant Emma Bunton goose bumps with a sublime Anglo-Spanish version of True Colours, thus cementing her place in the live finals.

When choosing Ruth for the live shows, Dannii Minogue told her: "What we love about you is your emotion and your compassion but we're scared it is completely taking over you.

"We're worried that we need someone in the show who is going to be able to get through the show. Even so, you're in our final three".

Here's the lowdown on Ruth.
