Rowetta to re-start career?
Friday, 17 July 2009
Former 'X Factor' contestant Rowetta is trying to re-start her career appearing in TV adverts.
The singer - who is also a former member of pop group The Happy Mondays - joins 'London's Burning' actor Richard Walsh and '2.4 Children' star Ray Polhill in auditioning for the 'Second Daim Around' campaign.
Five forgotten celebrities are competing to become the face of the Daim chocolate bar and star in a series of adverts to promote it. Each has uploaded an audition video and the public are able to vote for their favourite in order to pick the winner.
Joining the other three contestants are 'I Can Make You Feel Good' singer Kavana and girl group Cleopatra.
In Rowetta's audition video she is seen dancing with her dog. Ray appears in his video dressed as a duck while Kavana lies surrounded by pictures of himself, eating a Daim bar and smothered in chocolate.
Richard - who played Bert 'Sicknote' Quigley in 'London's Burning' - takes a more pleading approach in his video, saying in a tongue in cheek fashion: "I miss the lads and I miss the dramatic society. Help me, you're my only hope."
The public can vote in the 'Second Daim Around' campaign through internet site Facebook, with the winner announced on August 29.
