Leon Jackson's nervous about X Factor return
Friday, 10 October 2008
Reigning X Factor champion Leon Jackson has admitted he has the wobbles about appearing on the X Factor this coming Saturday night.
The Scottish crooner told 100.4 Smooth Radio presenter Dave Lincoln he's excited about making an appearance on the show he won last year but hopes nerves don't get the better of him.
In the conversation with the north-west station, Leon said: "I'm very excited and it'll be a real pleasure to go back as a guest.
"Purely that I am getting to step out on that stage again and be part of this year's X-Factor is a real treat for me."
He revealed he was very much looking forward to it but then he confessed he'll just have to soldier on if nerves get the better of him: "I'll be nervous a wee bit as well, hopefully it will be fine."
West Lothian born Leon ain't got nothin' to worry about really though has he?... Especially after wowing last year's voters to be crowned king of the X Factor 'mic'.
But a fairly low-key 12 months has left Leon out of the limelight after such intense pressure this time last year.
Nature of reality
That's the nature of reality shows though isn't it, where people are famous for 5 minutes.
It took Leona Lewis a whole year to release her debut album before she made it big in the US so Leon shouldn't be thinking "I'm Outta Time" just yet.
And whilst Leona has become a world-wide selling artist and celebrity, Leon's world has hardly started falling down around him.
He admitted: "Just the fact that I've got my own album out there is a phenomenal feeling.
"I've worked hard on it and I just want to be the best I can be."
Turning point
Hopefully Leon's album will be the turning point in his singing career and it will propel him to Leona's heights.
He ended by saying that he hopes the album does well "and people take to it."
Leone Lewis, meanwhile, is so big a star that she's turned down a £1million offer to open the Harrods January sale!
The 'Bleeding Love' singer was reportedly asked by Harrods owner Mohammed al Fayed to open their new year sales but flatly refused because they sell fur products.
Leona - who was recently voted the World's Sexiest Vegetarian by animal activist group PETA - said: "I'm totally against animal cruelty.
"I don't have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products."
Leona is currently in talks to create an ethical range of non-leather bags, shoes and accessories for British high street store Topshop.
She said recently: "I'm kind of in the real beginning stages of it.
"I'm not sure when it will be out, but I hope very soon."
Turning down £1million contracts is very noble Leona but you should really (get off your) high horse lady!
