John and Edward's narrow escape
Friday, 30 October 2009
John and Edward only narrowly escaped being in the bottom two acts on last weekend's 'X Factor'.
The Irish twins - who were rumoured to have received the most public phone votes after their performance of Ricky Martin's 'She Bangs' last Saturday (24.10.09) - were actually just 0.5 per cent off from facing the prospect of a live sing-off.
Rachel Adedeji, who faced the boot as one of the least popular acts in the first two weeks of live shows, was, in reality, the surprise winner of the public vote.
A show source told the Daily Star newspaper: "This is going to blow the whole competition wide open now. People were actually starting to believe that the twins were going to win. But it now seems their days are well and truly numbered. They could even be out this week.
"And Rachel, who no-one liked, has been piling up the votes this last week."
Judge Simon Cowell has admitted he is praying John and Edward don't win the show because they can't sing.
He said:"The twins are completely deluded and live in fantasy land but they are lovely. They thought Britney Spears would watch their performance and wanted to invite Robbie Williams to their birthday party.
"I'm praying John and Edward don't win but You have to live with a public vote."
