Bad Lashes blast Louis

Bad Lashes blast Louis

Monday, 13 October 2008

Bad Lashes have blasted their mentor Louis Walsh after being voted off 'The X Factor'.

The girl band, who were the first music act to leave the talent show on Saturday night (11.10.08) after failing to impress viewers with a rendition of Roxette's 'It Must Have Been Love', claim Louis ruined their chances of progressing in the series by paying more attention to boy band JLS.

Band member Emily McNamee fumed: "Louis said, 'I know how boy bands work. I've done it with Westlife, blah blah blah.' He said he managed Girls Aloud for a bit but wasn't very good."

Sophie Wilson added: "He just chatted to JLS a little bit more. Louis generally is better with boy bands."

Bad Lashes were joined in the bottom two by Girlband, who are also mentored by Louis.

In a new twist, the two acts performed a new song rather than a repeat of their earlier performance.

Bad Lashes chose a rendition of Oasis' 'Wonderwall', while Girlband opted for 'That's What Friends Are For'.

Judges Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole decided to eliminate Girlband, while Simon Cowell voted for Bad Lashes to leave.

Louis sided with Simon, forcing the show's producers to refer to the public vote.

Bad Lashes were sent home after receiving the lowest number of votes.

The devastated band - friends from Durham and Hartlepool, Emily, 19, Sophie, 23, Stacey Lincoln, 20, and Sam Bennett, 21 - wish they had been mentored by Girls Aloud singer Cheryl.

Emily explained: "When we found out we'd got Louis I was a bit gutted. We all wanted Cheryl because obviously, being in Girls Aloud, she knows what she's talking about. She's done it all, she's close to our age, she knows our style."

Louis insists he wants to continue working with Bad Lashes, saying: "I really want to help them. Let's see what happens."

The remaining eleven acts will perform Michael Jackson songs on this Saturday's show (18.10.08).
