The Bill - Zain Nadir speaks to DCI Jack Meadows
Thursday, 20 December 2007
Thursday 20 December 2007 8:00pm - 9:00pm on ITV1.
After the prison riot that led Jason Forbes (Jonny Phillips) to escape, Zain Nadir (TJ Ramini) talks to DCI Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse). He tells Jack that Forbes was in for murder and will be going after the person that exposed him, as he had recently discovered their identity.
Despite protests from Sun Hill's officers, Superintendent John Heaton (Daniel Flynn) manages to release Zain from prison for a day to work alongside CID until Forbes is caught. Zain receives a hostile reaction from his old colleagues when he walks through the station, particularly from angry PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy), whose ex-girlfriend's dead body was disposed of by Zain a year ago.
Working together side by side again, Zain and Jack follow Forbes' wife Lonnie (Sarah Goodchild) and find her selling jewellery to Oz Reed (Dennis Banks), a man previously charged for forging passports. When questioned, Oz admits that he sold Lonnie two passports and the officers realise they have to move quickly before Lonnie and Forbes disappear for good. Jack and Zain later talk to Forbes family lawyer, Jenna Bryce (Rachel Bavidge) and are surprised by her hostile reaction.
Back at the station, Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) offers to accompany Zain on his bathroom break and tells Will that Zain is alone. Will's frustration finally catches up with him and he punches Zain, but leaves feeling no better.
After further investigation, the officers are stunned when they realise that it was Forbes lawyer Jenna who exposed him as a murderer and is the person that Lonnie is escaping the country with. Knowing that time is running out, Zain and Jack head to the bar Forbes used to own, where they find a terrified Lonnie and Jenna tied up, with Forbes holding a gun to their heads. Knocking Jack out with his gun, Forbes then offers Zain the perfect opportunity to escape.
