The Bill - Self harm blackmail riddle after totally random iron attack
Thursday, 25 October 2007
Thursday 25 October 2007 8:00pm - 9:00pm on ITV1
Sergeant Stone (Sam Callis) and PC Diane Noble (Kaye Wragg) respond to a call from one of Diane's neighbours. They discover Steve Myatt (Orlando Wells) unconscious and see he has been hit with an iron.
Neighbour Alun Thomas (Danny Midwinter), who called the police, informs the officers that Steve's wife Angela (Emily Beecham) is missing. Later in hospital, Steve admits that he and Angela had been arguing and she lashed out with the iron, but he doesn't want to press charges.
Elsewhere, PCs Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) and Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge) are out on patrol when they find a frightened Angela with a burn mark on her arm.
Although Angela claims the burn was an accident, Stone and Diane are convinced that Steve has been abusing her. However, after further investigation, the officers discover that Angela is self harming as a result of being blackmailed by neighbour Alun.
The officers decide to use Diane's flat in order to watch Alun and get the evidence they need. Stone, realising how emotionally involved Diane is with the case, promises that he will do whatever he can to get Alun charged…
Elsewhere, Sergeant Smithy (Alex Walkinshaw) and PC Nate Roberts (Ben Richards) are called to a disturbance where they find youth leader, Macca (Abdul Salis) and Mr Chadar (Albert Moses) arguing over a batch of raffle tickets.
When Mr Chadar sees Carly Samuels (Marsha Leanne Crosby) with a group of teenagers, he picks her out as the girl who sold him the dud tickets. Smithy and Nate pay her a visit at home and Smithy is surprised when Carly's mum, Leanne (Lorna Brown) lets them in and explains she is looking after Carly's baby.
As soon as she walks into the house she is taken to the station for questioning. Smithy, believing that Carly has potential and can take responsibility for her baby, tries to talk some sense into her.
Can he get her to stay on the right side of the law?
