Tom Chambers' film dream

'Holby City' star Tom Chambers has written a film.

Tom - who plays Sam Strachan in the BBC1 soap - says after he leaves the show in a dramatic storyline this Christmas he wants to pursue a movie career, and has been honing his own script for some time.

Tom said: "My ambition in life is to work in film, and I've been writing one for the last five years. I've always had a story in my head, which is a cross between 'Forrest Gump', 'Billy Elliot' and 'Singin' In the Rain'. I'm 31 and if I don't start now, I'll look back and think I should have at least tried it."

He also adds that there is one TV role he'd love to land ? taking over from David Tenant as the next incarnation of sci-fi character Dr Who, in the eponymous TV show, but isn't hopeful of his chances.

He added to Britain's new! magazine: "Dr Who is an iconic, legendary role. I would be very lucky if I even got an audition."

Tom, who is currently starring in reality show 'Strictly Come Dancing', said despite his enjoyment of taking part in the contest, he is still stricken by nerves every week.

Tom said: "At the beginning, it's terrifying. But you think, 'I've been here before, I can handle this.' And then you're back to blind terror. If you don't get it right in the training room, you can't think about anything on the dancefloor. But I don't want the show to end."

Tom can be seen on 'Strictly Come Dancing' on the BBC One TV channel on Saturdays.
