Strictly Come Dancing - Stephanie Beacham curse
Monday, 8 October 2007
Stephanie Beacham has become the third victim of the 'Strictly Come Dancing' curse.
The former 'Dynasty' star - whose dancing partner is Tango champion Vincent Simone - injured her back during the group performance on Saturday's show (06.10.07).
Stephanie told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper: "The pain was like red hot pokers, but I didn't want to complain because everyone was suffering in training.
"I told Anton that it hurt but he told me to pull myself together. I think he feels a bit guilty about that now. But it has been agony."
The 58-year-old actress Stephanie is the third celebrity to have suffered from the curse. 'EastEnders' actor Matt Di Angelo missed out on three days of rehearsals after tearing ligaments in his knee, and 'GMTV' host Kate Garraway had to sit out of the group performance suffering in "agony" from tendonitis in her foot.
The "curse" has continued from last year's series of the reality talent show, when comedian Jimmy Tarbuck pulled out suffering from heart problems, and eventual winner, cricketer Mark Ramprakash, nearly dropped his partner, Karen Hardy, on her head.
A show insider said: "It may look easy, but it's a really dangerous sport, and uses muscles people didn't know they had."
Stephanie is hoping to be fully recovered for her first solo performance in the girls' show next Saturday (13.10.07).
