Austin Healey and Tom Chambers tipped for Strictly success

Although last weekend saw the female celebrities take their turn to strut their stuff, the men didn't exactly have a week off.

On Saturday night's show they performed a group meringue to "She Bangs" ahead of their second solo performances next week.

And with Phil Daniels already given the boot from the show, the remaining seven fellas were keen to show they wouldn't be the next casualty.

So following an energetic routine, all were desperate to get the thumbs up from the judges who, as always, passed a few comments.

When asked who stood out and caught their eye, Arlene Phillips said: "I am going for my Austin because I thought he was a ballroom boy but he pushed that girl around and, let me tell you, that isn't easy! He was leading her."

Bruno Tonioli said: "I think I have to go for John," whilst Craig Revel Horwood commented: "Tom stood out for me; the hip action was absolutely filthy!

"Also his timing was very good except when you went into that grapevine step."

Head judge Len Goodman said: "I thought they all did a pretty good job. Mark sometimes looks a bit awkward… but the atmosphere was electric."

It will be the girls' turn to perform a group dance next week as the boys dance for survival.

The ladies will be one member short though following Gillian Taylforth's exit yesterday
