Cristiano Ronaldo takes heat off Real Madrid saga
Wednesday, 16 July 2008
It appears the news about Cristiano Ronaldo dumping his Spanish model girlfriend was merely a ploy to take the focus off the intense speculation about his footballing future....
Last week newspapers reported that Ronaldo had allegedly dumped his model girlfriend Nereida Gallardo. Rumours circulated that the injured footballer was upset by stories that Nereida had hooked up with Real Madrid footballer Sergio Ramos last November.
A source revealed all to the Sun: "Details of past relationships became known to Cristiano which he hadn't known before and he was unhappy.
"He had also become bored of the relationship. He's a young man and felt it was the right time."
Yesterday Nereida decided to tell reporters the truth...she wasn't dumped and they are still very much in love.
She told the Daily Mail: "I don't know where this story has come from. I have spoken to him today, as always.
"We are together. He told me he loves me and I him."
What seeems strange to Ronaldo fans is that the model has been sunning herself on a beach instead of looking after her man who is recovering from an ankle operation.
Meanwhile Real Madrid player Wesley Sneijder has told reporters that he thinks there would be problems in the dressing room if Ronaldo moved to the club as some players would be jealous of his high wages.
According to The Daily Mail Sneijder said: "It'd be bad for the dressing room because he would earn better wages than the rest of the squad.
"It wouldn't be a problem to me, but some team-mates wouldn't fancy it. For sure I want to play with Cristiano, but the dressing room's harmony has to be maintained."
He added: "To me this Madrid side doesn't need to make signings. We've been very solid and the team has improved."
Will Ronaldo leave Manchester United for Real Madrid? Only time will tell...
