Rowan Atkinson's Blackadder snub

Rowan Atkinson has snubbed a 'Blackadder' reunion.

The notoriously private actor, 53, has turned down the cast reunion, despite all his co-stars agreeing to appear in UKTV Gold's 'Blackadder Exclusive: The Whole Rotten Saga and Blackadder's Most Cunning Moments' - which will feature new interviews and exclusive behind the scenes footage.

The show's writers - Ben Elton and Richard Curtis - have agreed to appear, as well as stars Stephen Fry, Tony Robinson, Hugh Laurie and Miranda Richardson.

A show insider said: "It was a shame that Rowan wouldn't join appear on the reunion shows as all his friends were delighted to join us. But he sent his apologies. Rowan is very private, he doesn't do interviews and he rarely makes public appearances."

'Blackadder' was a historically based situation comedy which ran for four series from 1983 to 1989.

Each series was set during a different period in English history from the War of the Roses in the 1400s to World War I.

Atkinson starred as slimy, self serving Edmund Blackadder, the central character in the comedy series.

Celebrity 'Blackadder' fans of the show, including journalist Jeremy Paxman will also talk about their favourite scenes in the show.
