Diversity devastated by Jackson death
Thursday, 16 July 2009
Diversity said performing with Michael Jackson would have been better than winning 'Britain's Got Talent'.
The dance troupe were set to appear in the 'Thriller' singer's 'This Is It' London residency shows, and were devastated by his death of a suspected cardiac arrest last month.
Group member Ashley Banjo said: "It's a massive loss to music and even worse because we were so excited to be performing with him.
"This was going to be a highlight, a dream come true.
"Just to be on the same bill and perform in front of the same crowd would have made us feel we'd arrived so it was a double tragedy."
The group have also vowed to pay tribute to the 'Billie Jean' star in their routines.
Ashley added: "If people could remember him through us; that would be amazing."
Despite the shows at London's O2 Arena being cancelled, the group are still rehearsing for possible tribute concerts.
Jamie McNaughton explained: "There have been rumours that Justin Timberlake or someone may step in and do some of the dates and we'd love to get involved in that instead.
"We all hope there will be a set of tribute concerts. That would be the best way to send Jacko off in style."
