Kieron Richardson's birthing freakout

Kieron Richardson was "freaked out" at seeing 'Hollyoaks' co-star Ashley Slanina-Davis give birth on the soap.

The actor, Ste Hay in the show, said the scene where Ashley gives birth was so realistic it left him slightly dumbstruck.

Kieron said: "She was amazing at giving birth. It looked so real that I got a bit freaked out. All I had to do was a bit of breathing. I think it was Ashley's time to shine."

The fact Ste is at the birth of his son at all is an accident, as he split up with Ashley's character, Amy Barnes, months ago, and she is now engaged to Josh Ashworth (Sonny Flood).

Kieron explained: "Ste overhears that Amy's on her own as Josh is in the pub so he goes to see her. He's making her a cup of herbal tea when her waters break. The hospital suggests Ste call a cab but Amy's contractions are getting stronger.

"As Amy is being talked through the birth, telling her to breathe and so on, Ste follows the instructions himself. It's very funny -suddenly the baby pops out."
