Katherine Jenkins' rape attack horror

Katherine Jenkins' rape attack horror

Thursday, 22 October 2009

An attempted rape left Katherine Jenkins in fear of her life.

The 29-year-old opera singer broke down in tears as she told TV host Piers Morgan about the attack in London 10 years ago.

Jenkins was punched and kicked by a man while walking home from a night out with friends when she studied at the Royal Academy of Music.

The attack left her so shaken that she still fears she could be attacked.

She said on 'Piers Morgan's Life Stories': "He looked like he had just come out of the pub. He threw his weight against me and I hit the wall.

"I thought: 'Right, he is going to try to rape me. So if I get in a ball on the floor then he won't be able to do it.' I did that and he kicked me a few times."

Jenkins' attacker eventually gave up and ran off with her purse.

She said: "He ran to the end of the road and then stopped and looked back at me and laughed. I'll never forget his face."

Katherine's interview can be seen on 'Piers Morgan's Life Stories' at 10pm on ITV1 on Saturday (24.10.09).
