Jane Danson's lesbian worry
Thursday, 29 May 2008
Jane Danson was "unsure" about starring in 'The Bill' because of the lesbian storyline her character PC Gemma Osbourne was involved in.
The 29-year-old 'Coronation Street' star admits she was uncertain about taking on such a controversial character in the police drama.
She said: "Playing lesbian PC Gemma Osbourne in 'The Bill' was a challenge. At first, I was a bit unsure about kissing a woman- it's nerve-wracking enough with a male actor!"
Jane also revealed she had no idea how much starring in 'Coronation Street' would change her life forever.
She added: "Starting in 'Coronation Street' at the age of 18 was overwhelming. No-one could have prepared me for it. Georgia Taylor, who played my on-screen sister Toyah, and I went in at the same time, and she is still one of my best friends in the whole world.
"I want to stay on at 'Coronation Street' for as long as they will have me. I would happily grow old and grey on the cobbles!"
