Ricky Whittle says his 'Hollyoaks' character Calvin Valentine has a "dark side".
The actor says the do-gooding cop will soon be pushed "over the edge" when he sees wife Carmel locking lips with her colleague Mark.
Ricky said: "Calvin used to be a nice bloke but since he got muddled up with Warren, there seems to be a dark side to him which is coming to the surface and he can't handle it."
The upcoming storyline will see Calvin kick Carmel - played by Gemma Merner - out of their home after an argument.
The jilted blonde - who is struggling to cope with the death of her sister Tina and the thought of crazed killer Niall being on the loose - takes comfort in the arms of newcomer Mark.
Ricky added to More! magazine: "Carmel gets the brunt of Calvin's paranoia and the kissing pushes him over the edge. Calvin's got himself in deep and it only gets messier."
