Gerard McCarthy has revealed he would love to star in 'Coronation Street'.
The 'Hollyoaks' star - who plays Kris Fisher in the Channel 4 show - is considering moving across to the ITV soap because he thinks they need an Irish character.
He said: "I've love to be part of the Connor family in 'Coronation Street' - they are in desperate need of a real Irish member. And when I was growing up, I always wanted to play Jim McDonald's long-lost son."
Gerard also said he is keen to try his luck on 'Coronation Street' because he is close friends with Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor.
He said: "Kym is one of my best mates. We both appeared in the West End musical 'Saturday Night Fever' in 2003, and I love her to bits. She only lives about 20 minutes from me so we often hook up and hang out with her kids."
However, while Gerard is on 'Hollyoaks', he is keen for his character to start an on-screen relationship with Nancy Hayton, played by Jessica Fox.
He added: "Kris has been single for a while now, and I think his options have dried up, to be honest. But I do reckon Nancy would be a good match for him. They would either be best friends or annoy the hell out of each other."
