Barry Sloane's villainous love
Friday, 25 July 2008
'Hollyoaks' star Barry Sloane says it is more fun to play a villain.
The actor - who plays Niall Rafferty in the Channel 4 soap - insists he much prefers playing bad characters, because it is more challenging.
He said: "I love playing a baddie, and I think it kind of goes with my look too. I played a defence barrister once, which was quite odd. Baddies are just so much more fun to portray. Niall is a superb character and has been involved in a lot of storylines, which is a blessing for me."
Barry also said it is unlikely Niall - who was responsible for the recent death of Max Cunningham, played by Matt Littler - will be redeemed in the soap.
He added: "I'm not sure if redemption is an option because morally, he is in a bad place. He has got to pay for what he does. But I think Niall wants to understand why he is like he is. His upbringing hasn't been talked about much, and I'm going to enjoy exploring that and finding out what it was like."
