Hilda Ogden and Mavis Wilton could return to 'Coronation Street'.

Soap bosses are currently planning the show's 50th anniversary celebrations for 2010, and admitted some of the old faces they hope to bring back include favourites Jean Alexander, who played Hilda Ogden in the soap, and Thelma Barlow, who played Mavis Wilton.

Show producer Kim Crowther said in a live web chat with fans: "There may well be some exciting returning cast in the new year. We are planning lots for the 50th anniversary; it will be must-see television.

"I would love to bring Hilda back - and Mavis. Noel Gallagher would also be great to appear. There are also plans for some new faces in the factory."

Kim also wants to reintroduce fiery character Tracy Barlow, most recently played by Kate Ford.

She added: "It would be fab to see Tracy Barlow back, wouldn't it?"

Other characters rumoured to be making a return include Steve McDonald's ex-wife Karen, played by Suranne Jones, and supermarket boss Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy).

Jean, 83, played cleaner Hilda until 1987, while 80-year-old Thelma departed the show in 1997.
