Sarah Harding is taking her acting career slowly to ensure success.

The Girls Aloud beauty - who makes her TV debut in drama 'Freefall' next month - is aware of the pressure on her due to her singing background, but is determined to be taken seriously as an actress.

She said: "I don't want to try too much, too soon. I'm taking baby steps.

"I'm working my way into acting gradually - I don't want people to think that I'm just swanning in there.

"There is a stigma attached to people who go from singing to acting."

Sarah, 27, insisted she didn't get any special treatment when she auditioned for the role of beautician Sam in the BBC Two show.

She added: "People find it hard to take if you try something different - they say 'Why's she doing that?'

"So I have to be clever about what I choose and take it one step at a time."

Sarah has also been confirmed to star alongside current Doctor Who David Tennant in new comedy film 'St Trinian's II: The Legend of Fritton's Gold', where she will play a "cool new schoolgirl".

Sarah made her acting debut in the first 'St Trinians' film, a cameo with her Girls Aloud bandmates.
