Fearne Cotton received death threats
Tuesday, 21 July 2009
Fearne Cotton was left terrified after she received death threats.
The blonde TV and radio presenter was sent a string of abusive messages during her Radio 1 show on Sunday (19.07.09) and had to be given a police escort from the studios to her home.
A source said: "Understandably she was very scared and shaken. Police escorted her home because of the severe nature of the messages.
"They were very graphic and made her fear for her life. She has never come across anything like this before. Listeners are always polite when they text in to the show - nothing like this."
However, Fearne - who was co-presenting the Official Chart Show with Reggie Yates - is determined to carry on with her presenting and not let abusive people get the better of her.
The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Fearne's a tough cookie. She wouldn't let anything stand in the way of getting on with her life."
Police have now arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the messages.
It was recently announced Fearne, 27, would be taking over Jo Whiley's mid-morning weekday radio show at the station from September.
