Ulrika to battle Kate Garraway for GMTV job
Friday, 5 September 2008
The race to replace breakfast presenter Fiona Phillips on the GMTV sofa has hotted up in the past few hours, with Ulrika Jonsson entering the fray.
Bookies had virtually closed the book on current GMTV second-in-command presenter Kate Garraway landing the high-profile female anchor role.
But swedish star Ulrika - whose career began as a weather girl on TV am - has been installed as co-favourite to get the job.

The Daily Mirror quote a GMTV insider as saying: "Fiona's departure is a blow, but this gives us a chance to gtive the whole show a spring clean.
"Ulrika is perfect - beautiful and intelligent with an ability to laugh at herself.
"Ulrika is an experienced presenter and we are now in serious discussions."
Fiona Phillips announced her decision to quit the show earlier this week to spend more time at home with her family.
She joined GMTV in 1993 as entertainment reporter and is working twelve weeks' notice up to Christmas.
