Richard Hammond in expensive crash
Monday, 10 August 2009
Richard Hammond has crashed his £110,000 luxury car into a Nissan.
The 'Top Gear' presenter drove his Morgan Aeromax - one of only 100 ever made - into the back of the small family vehicle on a roundabout near the village of Over in Gloucestershire, on Saturday (08.08.09).
Hammond, 39, was one of eight people involved in the crash, which also involved a BMW and a Volvo.
There were no injuries.
Gloucestershire Police Sergeant Paul Whale confirmed the smash had occurred, but claimed no one would be prosecuted.
He said: "There was a collision between four vehicles at approximately 12:30pm, but there were no injuries. It was all settled between the parties involved, who exchanged insurance details.
"No prosecution has been requested by anyone involved, and there was no recovery requested, so all vehicles involved must have driven away from the scene. Police attended the scene only to deal with traffic build-up."
A spokesman for the BBC added: "Richard was involved in a minor collision and nobody was hurt."
Richard is no stranger to car crashes, as in 2006 he was left critically injured in hospital after crashing a jet powered vehicle, capable of reaching speeds of up to 300mph, while filming for 'Top Gear'. He later made a full recovery.
