Rebecca Wheatley weight loss
Tuesday, 10 November 2009
Rebecca Wheatley said she was so disgusted with her wedding photographs it prompted her to lose 12 stone.
Rebecca - who played the larger-than-life receptionist Amy Howard on BBC soap 'Casualty' for four years - slimmed down from a size 32 to a 12 over two years because she felt so "ashamed" of the photos from 2005.
The 44-year-old British actress has since undergone a dramatic transformation, losing more than half her weight.
She said: "The turning point came when I had my son Freddie, who's now six, and got married. I should have been happy, but seeing my wedding pictures was devastating.
"It took me two weeks to find the courage to open the beautiful wooden box containing the photographs, and when I did there wasn't a single one I wanted to show people. Despite all my bravado I was ashamed I'd let myself get so big."
Rebecca - who starred in the programme from 1997 to 2001 - said she now feels great about getting down to a healthy 12 stone 5lbs and was "honoured" to be named Slimming World's 'Woman of the Year' after managing to keep the weight off.
