'Paris Hilton's British Best Friend' contestant dies

Paris Hilton was been left "deeply saddened" by the death of a contestant who competed in her TV show.

Kate McKenzie - who was runner-up the hotel heiress' UK series 'Paris Hilton's British Best Friend' - died suddenly on Friday (03.07.09) and the cause of the 25-year-old's death is still unknown.

However, police are not treating it as suspicious.

Paris added: "She will be missed."

Kat - a former pole dancer from Guilford, Surrey - was beaten by Samuel Haxtell in the show but Paris promised they would always remain friends.

During the ITV2 show the contestants had to compete in a series of challenges in order to become Paris' best friend, including makeovers, dress designs, a talent show and getting presents for Paris. The winners of each task received treats from the blonde beauty.

The series finale drew in 633,000 viewers - the highest ratings of the entire series.
