Holly Willoughby to host 'This Morning'
Thursday, 16 July 2009
Holly Willoughby has been confirmed as the new host of 'This Morning'.
The blonde beauty will take over from current presenter Fern Britton to share presenting duties of the ITV morning show with Phillip Schofield, her 'Dancing on Ice' co-host.
Holly said: "'This Morning' has always been the ultimate dream job for me. To spend my days sat next to Phil on the sofa just makes it that bit extra special. Now I just can't wait for it all to start."
The 28-year-old star - who recently gave birth to her first child, Harry - will start her new job in September, following the show's summer break, which starts tomorrow (17.07.09) after Fern's final episode.
It has been reported Phillip pushed for Holly to get the job after meeting ITV boss Peter Fincham.
Talking about his new co-host, Philip said: "Holly is a massive fan of the show, a brilliant broadcaster, and a fun person to be with. I'm really excited and can't wait to come back with her after the summer."
Holly beat off stiff completion from more experienced presenters including Davina McCall, Fiona Phillips and Ruth Langsford - who currently presents the show on Fridays.
Fern, 50, announced she was quitting in March after 10 years on the show, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family, although it has been reported she was also upset about Phillip getting paid more than her.
