Fiona Phillips leaves GMTV
Friday, 29 August 2008
Fiona Phillips is set to quit 'GMTV'.
The blonde beauty - who has been presenting the early morning ITV show for the past 12 years - has confirmed she will be stepping down as host in order to spend more time with her husband Martin Frizell and their two sons.
In a statement, Fiona, 47, said: "This is the hardest decision I have ever. I've been thinking about it for a long time. I love the job but I've got other responsibilities - the children, a home life and an elderly dad who needs me - and I've recognised that I can't have it all."

Fiona will be leaving at the end of the year, halfway through her £1.5 million contract.
Peter McHugh, the Director of programmes at ITV, said: "It's 12 years since I appointed Fiona as a presenter at GMTV and she's been absolutely wonderful.
"She will be sorely missed by the viewers and everyone at GMTV, but after all those years of getting up at 4am I can understand why she wants a change. Her honesty and openness have helped make GMTV the success it is. She'll be a tough act to follow."
Fiona first joined 'GMTV' as an entertainment reporter in 1993 but was then promoted to become the Los Angeles correspondent. In 1997, she was awarded the presenting job and has since hosted the show alongside male presenters including Andrew Castle and Ben Shephard.
