Danny Dyer quits TV
Tuesday, 4 August 2009
Danny Dyer has vowed to quit TV.
The self styled "hardman" actor and presenter said he's giving up TV presenting because he can't take criticisms levelled at him.
Referring to his most famous programme, he said: "I'm never doing presenting again. I filmed my last bit of 'Deadliest Men' last week and that's it - it's over.
"You need a thick skin in this game, because you're going to get criticism. I don't mind if my films get sl****d off because it's a part I'm playing, but when people are digging me out for who I am and the way I talk, it hurts."
The 'Adulthood' actor - who recently turned down a part in BBC soap 'EastEnders' - added he is now ready to move back into acting full time, and will concentrate on his upcoming films, which include 'Malice in Wonderland', '7 Lives' and 'Pimp'.
He wrote in his Zoo magazine column: "I want to concentrate on the acting now. I've enjoyed the TV stuff and earned a few quid, but acting's what I love - it's my game. When I'm acting I can get into a role, but when I'm on TV, it's just me with my heart on my sleeve. That gives away a little too much."
