Chris Tarrant lets kids loose

Wednesday, 1 July 2009

Chris Tarrant is returning to children's TV after his latest game show was axed.

The 62-year-old presenter - who shot to fame when he starred in legendary children's programme 'Tiswas' in the 1970s - will host new show 'Tarrant Lets the Kids Loose'.

The eight-part series will give six-to-eight-year-olds the chance to try out their dream jobs, from working at a radio station to driving an ice cream van.

Tarrant said: "They say never work with kids or animals. But you know what? They're wrong! Kids are funny, magical and always surprising. What parent hasn't told an anecdote about the funny things their children say?

"This show totally captures the spirit and the inherent comedy of children - it's the kind of family entertainment I love".

Tarrant's last show 'The Colour Of Money' was discontinued after just seven episodes because of poor viewing figures.

It was initially hoped the gameshow - in which contestants attempted to win tens of thousands of pounds by drawing money from 'cash points' - would prove as popular as Chris' other ITV show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'

'Tarrant Lets the Kids Loose' begins filming in front of a live studio audience in July and will premiere on Digital channel Watch in October.
