Caroline Quentin set for 'The Bill'?

Thursday, 29 October 2009

Caroline Quentin may join 'The Bill' in an attempt to save the struggling show.

The ex-'Men Behaving Badly' star - who producers want to daft in as Sun Hill's Borough Commander - would appear for six weeks in especially written episodes.

A show source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Caroline has been asked to come in to try and boost the show's popularity. Script writers have been told to write especially for her as ITV is keen to improve ratings."

'The Bill' has had to make staff cuts over the last few months and the programme has been scaled back to only one episode a week.

Ratings have also plummeted from five million to 3.9 million.

The show insider added: "The rot has set in. When the show was re-launched the episodes were ready for transmission and featured CID but an ITV executive decided there had to be more 'uniform' officers in it as it is a police show.

"It was only then they realised that there was no 'uniform' left as they had sacked most of them."
